Studying A level Geography at St Ivo

A Level Geography at St Ivo School

At St Ivo we study the OCR A Level syllabus which has been chosen for its exciting and interesting content combining some of the popular traditional elements of geography, with new ideas and innovative approaches which allow students of the 21st century to understand the ever changing relationship between people and the environment in which they live. Our A Level brochure is available for download.

The structure and assessment of the A Level course:

Fieldwork:
The department has a strong tradition of fieldwork in all key stages and it is seen as a vital component of the A Level course. Fieldwork includes visits to Snowdonia, Epping Forest & London.

Stretch and Challenge:
We are keen to stretch and challenge students and have recently invested in a small VI form ‘Geography Library’ including texts which support and extend topics in the specification as well as some to extend and develop our students as well rounded Geographers.

Online Support:
As well as having a dedicated Alevel twitter feed providing links to supporting materials and articles to help students develop the breadth and develop required for the highest grades, we also have our own online Schoology course which offer access to all lesson resources as well as revision materials and support such as university applications.
